If you live in Palomino Run, your default "let's go somewhere good" drive has probably pointed toward FM 423 or up toward The Star for years. That habit is about to get rearranged. The most talked-about restaurant openings on the Frisco calendar this fall are clustered a few miles east, at HALL Park along Gaylord Parkway, and the ripple effects reach all the way back to the Phillips Creek Ranch trailheads.
This isn't a roundup of every new sign in town. It's a look at where the serious operators are actually planting flags, what that means for a Friday reservation, and what's happening inside the community while all of it lands.
The biggest single move is Headington Companies bringing two of its downtown Dallas concepts to 3101 Gaylord Parkway. Michael Tregoning, president of Headington Companies, said HALL Park will be home to the second locations of both Commissary and Tango Room, occupying ground-level retail space beneath The Monarch luxury apartments, with both slated to open in fall 2026. Headington is the group behind The Joule hotel and Forty Five Ten, so this is not a satellite play.
Two details separate this from a typical suburban expansion. First, the Frisco location will serve as Commissary's flagship operation and house all bakery and wholesale production for the brand. The ovens feeding every other Commissary output will be sitting on Gaylord Parkway. Second, Tango Room is not a scaled-up steakhouse chain. It's an intimate twelve-table modern steakhouse serving timeless classics and a robust wine list, and it takes the ground floor of The Monarch next to the 5.7-acre Kaleidoscope Park, with a menu pairing New York strip, foie gras, and pomme purée with less-expected plates such as lobster corndogs and uni tagliatelle, plus a signature caviar martini.
A twelve-table steakhouse with a flagship bakery next door is a very specific kind of bet. It says the operator expects a walk-in dinner crowd from The Monarch and a morning coffee crowd from the offices, in the same building, seven days a week.
Muchacho Tex-Mex is landing on the same street. Chef Omar Flores is preparing a third Muchacho at 600 Gaylord Pkwy, the colorful Tex-Mex concept known for mesquite-fired meats and cocktails, with construction moving slower than anticipated after Gloria's Latin Cuisine occupied the space longer than expected, pushing the opening from spring into late summer or early fall.
For a Palomino Run household, the practical read is that a chef-driven Tex-Mex, a serious steakhouse, and an all-day café-bakery are opening within a block of each other, roughly fifteen minutes across town.
A few arrivals from the last twelve months are already changing the short list.
Musume is the one that flew under the radar for a lot of west-Frisco residents. Musume, from Dallas-based Rock Libations Restaurant Group, opened at The Star in September 2025 at 3625 The Star Boulevard, Suite 315, with a 6,000-square-foot second-floor space that runs lunch, happy hour, and dinner and holds what the operator describes as the region's largest sake and Japanese whisky selection.
Closer to Palomino Run, Bread Zeppelin, the Dallas-born concept that serves salad-stuffed toasted baguettes, opened its eleventh Texas location in Frisco on June 5, 2026. And Vandelay Hospitality Group's Hudson House is now open in Frisco, adding a proper cocktail-and-oysters option in the neighborhood rotation.
The FM 423 and Preston sides of town got two more everyday-use additions this year.
Portillo's broke ground on its first Frisco location on FM 423 near Gordon Heights in May 2025 and was slated for a January 2026 completion at roughly 6,250 square feet, sitting near Freddy's Frozen Custard and Black Rifle Coffee on the west side of the road. That's a five-minute detour from most Palomino Run driveways. Slice House by Tony Gemignani, from the thirteen-time World Pizza Champion, was scheduled to open at 5995 Preston Road in January 2026, serving pizzas by the slice or whole plus pasta, salads, and Italian desserts.
Also on the 2026 slate: Andalous Fresh Mediterranean, a modern fast-casual eatery with a dining experience that combines buffet-style service with plated dishes, cold items like fresh dips, salads, and toppings buffet-style while proteins are plated fresh from the kitchen.
Here is the fall-into-winter cheat sheet:
| Opening | Where | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| Commissary & Tango Room | 3101 Gaylord Pkwy, HALL Park | Fall 2026 |
| Muchacho Tex-Mex | 600 Gaylord Pkwy | Late summer / early fall 2026 |
| Portillo's | FM 423 near Gordon Heights | Early 2026 (open) |
| Slice House by Tony Gemignani | 5995 Preston Road | January 2026 |
| Bread Zeppelin | Frisco | Opened June 5, 2026 |
| Musume | 3625 The Star Blvd, Ste 315 | Opened September 2025 |
| Andalous Fresh Mediterranean | Frisco | 2026 |
While the dining map redraws, the calendar inside Phillips Creek Ranch keeps its own rhythm. The community association ran its Summer Concert Series with the Haywire Band on June 26, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, and all pools opened for the season on May 15, 2026. A note in the same posting flagged the Lebanon Road widening project, which is worth keeping in mind if your usual route east tracks Lebanon toward the tollway. If you're timing an evening at HALL Park, plan the drive with that construction in the calculation.
Looking ahead, mark the calendar for Saturday, November 14, 2026, from noon to 4:00 pm at 6515 Lonestar Parkway, when the community hosts a market for local businesses, artisans, and creators. That's a low-key way to spend a Saturday afternoon without leaving the neighborhood.
The daily amenity picture is unchanged and still one of the reasons people bought here in the first place. Over eleven miles of hike-and-bike trails weave through the community's lakes and rolling topography, and twenty-five life-size bronze horse sculptures, each weighing over 1,000 pounds and finished by a Dallas-based artist, make up thirteen percent of Frisco's outdoor sculptures. If you have out-of-town family in this fall, a walk from Vista Park along the trails, then dinner at Muchacho or Tango Room, is a Frisco day that would have been impossible to assemble a year ago.
Two other developments matter for anyone thinking about how the west side of Frisco will feel in two years.
At the corner of US 380 and the Dallas North Tollway, Wilks Development revealed in late April that Frenchie, the acclaimed French-American all-day café from Travis Street Hospitality, and Second Rodeo Brewing, the Fort Worth Stockyards brewpub from restaurateur Jason Boso, have both signed leases at the Shops at Firefly Park, joining Tyler's at the 217-acre mixed-use development and pushing phase-one retail leasing to 41 percent. Frenchie has been nominated for Best New Restaurant in the 2026 CultureMap Dallas Tastemaker Awards. Those are 2027 openings, but they explain where the west-Frisco energy is heading after HALL Park absorbs this year's wave.
Fields West is on a similar timeline. In November 2025, Fields West signed leases with Crate & Barrel, Culinary Dropout, Design Within Reach, Face Foundrie, Gorjana, Landry Kate, North Italia, Maman, TravisMathew, and U Med Spa, bringing the mixed-use development to 70 percent pre-leased, with an opening sequenced starting in Q3 2027 into 2028.
And for households with younger kids, the summer already delivered its own headline. Universal Kids Resort opened July 1, 2026, designed for families with children ages 3 to 9, with attractions, shows, food and beverage, and merchandise across seven themed lands featuring iconic brands and characters. It sits at Panther Creek Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway, which puts it inside the same fifteen-to-twenty-minute radius as HALL Park.
The takeaway for a Palomino Run resident: the "we don't have anything close by" complaint from a few years ago has quietly stopped being true. The best-known operators in Dallas and Fort Worth spent the last eighteen months signing leases within a short drive of your front door. The fall calendar is where a lot of it becomes real.
